SAFI JUNIOR SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT
Achieving Excellence Together
Safi Junior School is a private mixed nonprofit Community School that offers education from Pre- School to Primary five for all children of different racial, cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds. The school aims to equip students academically and proficiently for secondary school and offers education from preschool to PLE with a curriculum focusing on English, Geography, History, Math, Music, PE, ICT and Science.
Our goal is to engage with families and communities in ways that go beyond our core academic role. To stir and nurture the curiosity and creativity of our students and engender a sense of understanding and compassion, to develop resilient and thoughtful individuals equipped with the skills necessary to adapt to a changing world. We strive for the total development of each child.
Our classrooms will facilitate a variety of learning styles and teaching methodologies. They have been designed to provide multi use spaces that support small and large group learning. Safi Junior School also has athletics programs, summer programs, community service, and extracurricular activities.
We will provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment that will promote excellence and innovation. Through development-appropriate instruction we aim to meet the diverse learning needs of all our students. We will ensure that skills development is woven throughout the curriculum, with an emphasis on the integration of ICT in educational practice.
For our teaching staff we will offer continued professional development and a coherent career structure.
We aim to cultivate a broad based alliance between parents, communities and the private sector to create a hub of academic achievement. We will champion diversity and promote sportsmanship, school spirit, and positive civic attitudes through our studies and our educational accomplishments.
Our Directors’ vision and goal is to achieve:
“Excellence in teaching and learning, achieved through an enjoyable and professional whole community team effort following clearly defined goals, which recognises and values the uniqueness and achievement of every child, and respects the dignity of all.”
Outstanding leadership and management is a key factor contributing to the school’s success. The head teacher provides excellent leadership and educational direction. They are extremely well supported by senior staff and subject leaders who all make a valuable contribution to the school’s high performance. The school has an accurate view of where it wants to be and will take highly effective action to bring about improvements where necessary. An extremely positive atmosphere pervades the school and there is clear commitment from staff to maintaining high standards and providing a high quality education for all pupils.’

Parents
At Safi Junior School, we attach great importance to developing strong links between the school and local, regional and national communities. Within our curriculum, within Citizenship education, our Healthy schools and Eco-Schools work, our School Council, through assemblies, concerts and special events, we involve our pupils in the local community, so that they learn how to participate in a practical way in the life and concerns of their neighbourhood and communities. Working with parents, local residents, the business community, public services, global charities and voluntary services teaches the children to become active citizens.
One way in which we communicate very effectively with the local community, including our parents, is through our weekly newsletter. This gives details of everything happening at school as well as providing us with an opportunity to help the local community by advertising different events. Newsletters are archived on our website which gives a lot of helpful information about our school.
We have a Pastoral Co-ordinator that leads assembly in our school at least twice each term, as do other local religious leaders. We believe that the role of the children as global citizens is greatly enhanced by involving them directly in helping others. This is done, not just by raising money, but through whole school assemblies and through class lessons in Personal, Social and Health Education and Citizenship, as well as through teaching and learning in curriculum areas such as Geography and Religious Education. The children designed our school ‘mural’ to show four important words are ‘Care’, ‘Tolerance’, ‘Trust’ and ‘Respect’. Generosity is discussed in terms of giving time, help and friendship, as well as raising funds.
Safeguarding
.SJS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all our children in school and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and follow our Child Protection Policy and procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read our safeguarding policies which can be found on our Safeguarding Policies page.
Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment – and that we all feel safe in our environment.
At our school we believe that pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse; where staff are vigilant for signs of any pupil in distress and are confident about applying the/our safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.
Our Safeguarding Team
If you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of a child at our school please talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs). Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. If a member of staff is concerned about a child’s welfare, they will record their concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the safeguarding team as soon as possible.
